So that is what Alex Barron and the Arciero-Blair Racing team did
in practice for this weekend’s Marlboro 500 presented by Toyota at
California Speedway.
As their 2001 Driving 101 Ford Lola was too damaged in last
weekend’s race to be repaired in time for this weekend, the team
was forced to put their efforts in to their 2000 chassis. Although
still a fast car it is admittedly not as fast as the 2001 version.
When the final practice came to an end on Saturday Alex had run a
best lap of 31.977 seconds for an average speed of 228.427 mph. This
lap was only .758s. off the fastest lap of the weekend.
This was indicative that the team would indeed be in good shape
for the scheduled 250 lap, 500 mile race.
