MILLER LITE 225

01.JUN
Report from the Milwaukee Practice

Practice for the Miller Lite 225 was a harried affair for all the CART teams, including the Ariciero Blair team.

Practice for the Miller 225 was Max Wilson's first opportunity to run his Lola with the newly-acquired Ford Cosworth powerplant.

Rain wiped out the first session-Champ Cars can't run in the wet on an oval. As a result there was one two-hour practice session held on Friday afternoon.

Since CART rules preclude in-season testing this practice session served as the initial shakedown for the newly reorganized team and their Lola with the newly acquired Ford Cosworth powerplant.

Rookie driver Max Wilson completed 55 laps on the Milwaukee oval and between learning the circuit and coping with heavy traffic in the busy session, he turned a best lap of 23.753 seconds, for a 156.410 mph average.

Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves had the quickest time at 22.845s. and 162.626 mph.

Saturday's practice session was rained out so there would be no chance to further improve the time and the car's setup
