LEHIGH VALLEY GRAND PRIX PRESENTED BY TOYOTA

05.MAY
Report from the Nazareth Qualifying Session

Max's first qualifying run on a short oval was a short and slightly disappointing one. His only timed lap was 21.117 seconds, translating into a 161.273 mph average on the .946

Max Wilson at speed in qualifying for his first ever short oval race at Nazareth Speedway.

mile Nazareth Speedway. It was an improvement of .3 seconds over the fastest lap he had run in practice.

That lap meant that he would start 24th on the grid. Bruno Junqueira was the fastest qualifier at 19.700 seconds, and 172.873 mph.

Max had mistakenly shifted down from fifth to fourth gear for a corner, instead of from sixth to fifth and had a little bobble in turn two. This was enough to cause his second and final qualifying lap to start out slower than the first. He wisely pulled the car into the pits, not completing his second lap.
