ROCKINGHAM 500

22.SEP
Report from the Rockingham 500 Race

As rain and damp track conditions forced the cancellation of Thursday's and Friday's practice sessions, it was decided that the race distance would be shortened from 500 to 400 kilometers.

Max Wilson leads Memo Gidley in the inaugural CART event at the Rockingham Speedway in England.

Further delays due to track conditions on race day meant that the start of the race wouldn't be until 4:30 p.m. local time. There was concern that there would not be enough daylight to safely run the 400 km. so the race was further shortened to140 laps, or approximately 333 km.

Max started his Driving 101 Arciero-Blair Racing Ford Lola in 24th position and drove a steady and uneventful race to finish in the 21st spot.
