Shifting problems had hampered their efforts and Max had to start
the 100 lap Texaco /Havoline Grand Prix of Houston in the 26th spot
in his Driving 101 Ford Lola. At the end he had moved up 10
positions to finish16th.
Driving fast and sensibly, and aided by two quick pit stops, Max
made up spots as other drivers made mistakes and broke their cars
against the concrete walls and tire barriers that line the circuit.
Showing the improvement that had been made by his hard working
crew and coupled with his excellent driving, Max set the fifth
fastest lap of the race.
"It was difficult all weekend once we got behind due to the
mechanical problem and we were not able to go fast," said
Wilson. "We had to continue to push ahead and run as hard as we
could to get the best results we could get. This finish and setting
fast laps will help our team as we go ahead into the next race at
Laguna Seca. We have tested there before and I am looking forward to
returning there."
