Max Wilson Injured During Practice, Will Not Compete in Race.

BROOKLYN, Michigan (July 21, 2001) -- Arciero-Blair Racing driver Max Wilson will not compete in Sunday’s Michigan 500 Presented By Toyota. The Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) FedEx Championship Series is continuing in round eleven of 21 events at Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Mich.

Wilson, driving the Ford-powered number 25 WinnerB2B Lola, spun, hitting the wall on the two-mile oval during Saturday morning practice.

Medical update from CART: "X-rays at Foote Hospital revealed that Wilson, who was involved in a single-car incident in the earlier practice session, sustained multiple bruised ribs on the left side, according to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART director of medical affairs. The initial medical report prior to the x-rays was the possibility of multiple broken ribs. He was treated and released. Wilson will not race in tomorrow’s race."
