Arciero-Blair
Racing will not compete at Chicago.
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (July 23, 2001) -- Arciero-Blair
Racing and its driver Max Wilson will not compete in next Sundays
Target Grand Prix Presented By Energizer. The Championship Auto
Racing Teams (CART) FedEx Championship Series is continuing in round
twelve of 21 events at Chicago Motor Speedway in Cicero, Ill. on
Sunday, July 29th.
"We are formally withdrawing from the Chicago race simply
due to the accidents at Toronto and Michigan," said Larry
Blair, team owner Arciero-Blair Racing. "Our cars are under
repair and we will return to CART competition at Mid-Ohio for the
Miller Lite 200. Max is fine and has been released by the doctors to
return to racing. After our fourth place finish at Portland and
leading at Cleveland, the last few weeks have been
challenging."
At the recent Molson Indy, Wilson and the Arciero-Blair Winner
B2B Ford-Lola was forced into the tire barriers after being clipped
by Tora Takagi. Additionally, on Saturday at Michigan International
Speedway, in Brooklyn, Mich., Wilson was involved in a single-car
incident, sustaining multiple bruised ribs on the left side,
according to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART Director of Medical Affairs. He
was treated and released from a local hospital.
