Dear Alex Barron and Team Blair Racing!
At first I would like to send to you very nice greeting from the Czech Republic. I am 33 years old and I am a big fan of a car's sport, above all the races IRL. I would like to wish you everything best and many sports successes in season 2002.

From: Jeff Cain

First let me say that this year I have become a huge fan of the I.R.L. scene and I have been to three races this year; Indy, Gateway and Chicagoland. I go to the races with a few other guys and we are huge fans of Alex Barron. We can't make the race in Texas but next year we are planning on going to about 4 or 5 IRL races. Thank you for your time and good luck at Texas Motor Speedway and GO BLAIR RACING!!!!!

From: Daniel White

Hey Alex,
Congratulations to you and your team for a terrific season. Fourteen finishes out of 15 starts, a win, 4 top fives--and only one crashed car (a mechanical failure at Indy)--must make everyone realize what a fast but mature and sensible driver you are, and how talented your team is. Also, let's hope that you'll be back with Blair, and get to enjoy a strong testing season to help you guys be championship contenders next year. And finally, I'm glad you had a safe season--this all-oval stuff is nerve-racking to watch sometimes!

Alex, just wanted to let you know how happy I've been at your successes. While I'm an open wheel racing fan my interest has significantly dropped off since Dan Gurney left the CART series. Cheering (from afar) for the AAR team was extremely satisfying and really kept me following each race.. I did make the Michigan race while Dan was still with CART the year of the BIG pit fire. Until your recent successes, I haven't had many of Dan's ex-drivers to cheer for in either series. PJ Jones may be making waves at NASCAR before too long, but open wheel is where my heart remains.

Unfortunately I don't think AAR will be getting back into racing...just my gut feel. And , I've sworn off Toyota who I felt really gave Dan a bum deal.

Best of luck on your future races.

I'll be cheering for you through the screen.

From: Jeff Daniels

Congratulations to you and the entire Rayovac Blair team on being named one of the Chevy engine development teams for 2003. I hope that will allow the team to take another step forward so that in 2003 you are competing for wins at every race and also for the season championship. Congratulations on a great season!

From: Scott & Judy/San Diego

Congratulations on your first win Alex! It was great to see the look on Larry's face as you crossed the finish line. I felt as though I just won a race myself. If anyone deserved this, it was you. Your patience has paid off and I feel this is only the first of many. I enjoy working with you and the crew at the Super Spec Series and think you are doing a wonderful thing for karting. I enjoy being a part of your team. Judy and I wish you much success.

From: Pat Bradley

Congratulations on your first win. The Sun City Car Club is proud of you.

Congratulations Alex and to everyone who has helped developed the Rayovac/Blair Racing #44 team. All of Southern California was cheering for you and look now you guys have done it!!! Look out IRL...... Alex Barron and the Rayovac/Blair team are here and are going to show the world what hard work and determination is all about! I suggest everyone call there brokers on Monday and start buying shares in Rayovac!

From: Greg Nuckols

Congratulations on a fine first win to you and Blair Racing. You earned it and deserved it. Beating a penske car to the finish line is one of my favorite sights. Met you at Richmond and you make a good first impression. Must go load up on the Rayovacs now.

Hi there,Here's a little email from a big IRL. Always very spectacular racing. luckely this year it is broadcasted on TV. Although with a weeks delay but still, I can watch the action! It’s great to see your newly formed team being active in their second year in IRL. Alex Barron is a driver who in my opinion was much underrated when he was driving with the All American Racers in the Indycars. He suffered a lot from all thos blown Toyota’s. After AAR he had some competitive rides with Penske and Dale-Coyne. Always engine-trouble prevented a decent result. But this year from Nazareth on he proofs his competitiveness. I know he can be on the podium this season. I keep my fingers crossed. Byebye and greetings.

From: David S. Deerberg

WOW! WOW! WOW! To all the members of Blair racing, congratulations on a job well done! As a 20 consecutive year spectator of the INDY 500, the performance of the team was simply amazing. Let's see, rookie team with rookie driver finishes fourth in the most competitive field in recent memory. Pretty damn impressive. I look forward to seeing the nose cone of the #44 inches in front of another classic Texas finish.

ASK ALEX

Q: Alex, first off I'd like to say congratulations on a fine 1st season in the IRL. It's good to see someone from Southern California up competing with the best of the best. My question for you is every driver has a story or a meaning behind their helmet designs. How did you come up with your design and what does it mean? -- Kevin Leger

A: The helmet design was based off of the first full sponsor I had in karting and it was their color scheme of their kart shop. Kleber Designs in Irwindale, Calif, does all helmet painting.

Q: Hi I am Sherman and I am 17 years old, I want to know how do you come about becoming an indy race car driver? what do I have to do? Where do I have to go? It would be the coolest thing in the world to become an indy race car driver I have dreamt of it all my life. Is it easy to become one or is it hard work? I want to know everything and all about becoming an indy car driver. Thanks for the help, Sherm?

A: You should start with going to your local shifter kart shop. Talk to your local shop and get some guidance. After racing in the kart series you can work up to the pro kart series. In a few years with success you can start working on getting a ride in a car. You have to work on sponsors and the budget. Becoming a race car drive is very rewarding but it takes a tremendous amount of dedication, family support and time. You also have to dedicate yourself to becoming physically fit as well.

Hey Alex,
It seems there are two Daniel White's e-mailing you questions. Odd. Anyway, the race announcers failed to report your troubles, so I was thankful to get the clarification from your website's report on the team's problem with the left-rear lug nut. It was a shame that it cost you two laps.

Q: Here is my question: on that pit stop, once the crew figured out you were about to go a lap down, could they have sent you out ahead of the pack during the yellow flag period so you didn't have to lose the lap, so you could quickly get around and have them try removing it again on the next lap?

A: It was a yellow flag stop. It would have been impossible anyway without a rear wheel. The pin in the lug nut jammed and they had to take time to properly get the wheel on. The crew did a good job on making sure it was on before they sent Alex back out.

Alex,
Congratulations on a great win! I've followed your career since you were picked to drive by Dan Gurney in CART. I was disappointed when it didn't work out for you and Dan to continue competing together in CART. I was excited when Blair Racing picked you to drive their car this year and you have been impressive in every race. Congratulations on a well-deserved win!

Q: Now that you and Blair Racing have won your first race together with Rayovac, what goals do you have for the remainder of the season?

A: To move forward in the championship and to work on next year's program.

Alex, congratulations on your first of many IRL wins!

Q: My question is this. What were the first year expectations of Blair racing going into the first race. Thank You !

A: To improve every weekend on the performance of the team, to establish solid sponsorship and to win races!
